OVERSEAS VIETNAMESE AFFAIRS
Overseas Vietnamese have contributed financial and physical supports to assist their compatriots to get through dificulties.
The overseas Vietnamese communities have donated VND13 billion (nearly US$530 million) to localities and people affected by typhoon Yagi, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pham Thu Hang, reported on September 19.

Speaking at the ministry's regular press conference, Hang said the overseas Vietnamese communities will continue to raise funds to help their countrymen overcome immediate difficulties.
She highly appreciated that Vietnamese people at home and abroad have donated financial and physical supplies to assist those impacted by the storm in stabilizing their lives as soon as possible in the spirit of love and affection.
Governments and international organizations have also sent letters and messages of condolence to the Vietnamese people and swiftly supported relief efforts to address the aftermath of typhoon Yagi, Hang noted.
"The support from the international community, as well as from overseas Vietnamese, for the victims of typhoon Yagi, is valuable," Hang remarked.
"Vietnam deeply appreciates the solidarity and encouragement from the international communities and overseas Vietnamese," she said.
"Their support to the Government and the people of Vietnam is key to resolving significant damages, stabilizing livelihoods, resuming production activities, and driving growth," Hang said.
