Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who led a high-level delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly on an official visit to the Russian Federation from September 8-10. During the visit, Chairman Tran Thanh Man took the time to meet with embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Russia.

The Ambassador highlighted that although Man has visited Russia multiple times, this marks his first official foreign visit as Chairman of the National Assembly.

“This trip holds great significance, taking place shortly after the August 8th phone call between General Secretary and President To Lam and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as President Putin's state visit to Vietnam on June 20, 2024,” said Khoi.

The visit also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Russia Treaty on Basic Principles of Friendship.

According to the Ambassador, Russia highly values Chairman Tran Thanh Man's decision to choose Russia as his first destination in his new role, with thorough preparations and a warm welcome in place. The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia has prioritized preparations for this visit as one of its most important tasks of the year, recognizing both the honor and responsibility involved.

Ambassador Khoi emphasized the strong and long-standing history of the Vietnamese community in Russia, which has grown steadily and plays a key role in fostering ties between the two nations. Representatives of the Vietnamese community and students in Russia expressed their joy in welcoming Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation, particularly as the visit coincides with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Association in Russia.

During the meeting, Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the Party, the State, and the delegation, extended warm greetings to the embassy staff and the entire Vietnamese community in Russia. He reaffirmed that the Party and State always prioritize the welfare of overseas Vietnamese, recognizing them as an inseparable part of the nation.

Regarding the official visit, Chairman Man emphasized that the invitation from the State Duma and the Federation Council to the Vietnamese National Assembly reflects Russia’s special regard for its comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam. He also provided updates on Vietnam's situation, noting the government’s efforts to ensure growth, control inflation, stabilize the macro economy, and enhance social welfare, national defense, security, and diplomacy. He also encouraged them to preserve the Vietnamese language and culture and to contribute their knowledge and expertise to Vietnam’s development.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his confidence in the Embassy's staff, noting that, despite the challenges of living abroad, they would continue to excel in their diplomatic duties.
