Vietnamese Women's Union in Germany building strong community

Nearly 140 women representing Vietnamese women’s groups in 16 German states attended a founding congress of the Vietnamese Women's Union in Germany on October 1.

This is a new milestone with important significance, confirming the solidarity and development of Vietnamese women in Germany in particular and the Vietnamese community in general.

 At the congress, delegates approved the Union’s statutes and operational guidelines  for the 2023 - 2028 period, which focus on the potential, creativity, self-reliance and solidarity of Vietnamese women in Germany. Photo: VNA

The Union also establishes a leadership body with creative capacity and responsibility; build a forum for gender equality and women's advancement; protect and care for women and their children; organize volunteer activities to support the community and preserve and honor Vietnamese cultural traditions. Regarding foreign affairs, the Union will cooperate with social and non-governmental organizations to support the Union's activities and projects.

 The  delegates elected aa 29-member Executive Committee, of which Trinh Thi Mui, Chairwoman of the Preparatory Committee for organizing the congress, was elected  the president of the union.

The  Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Vu Quang Minh warmly congratulated the delegates. He acknowledged the efforts of all members across the federation, especially the preparatory committee, who worked continuously for  32 days, to organize the successful congress. According to the Ambassador, the Union will be an indispensable element of the Federation of Vietnamese Women in Germany and will confirm the role and position of the Vietnamese community in Germany in particular and in Europe in general. Also on this occasion, he  ratified  the absolute support of the Embassy, representative agencies as well as organizations, accompanying all women to achieve noble goals, which is building a strong and united community.

  Speaking to reporters from  Vietnam News Agency, Mui said: “The establishment of the  organization shows that we have been overcoming difficulties with perseverance, solidarity and pride. By preserving national culture, traditions and values, we can better promote Vietnam   worldwide”.

 She affirmed that the Union will represent the cultural and spiritual values of Vietnamese women. Participating in the Union is also an opportunity to strengthen close relationships, to connect, learn and support each other, discuss important issues and propose creative solutions. This will also be a place to honor talented and strong Vietnamese women for their outstanding contributions to the community and society.

 Nguyen Viet Trieu, President of the VWF in Europe, assessed this as a milestone event in the movement of Vietnamese women in Germany. After the active and serious preparation process of the preparatory committee, from now on Vietnamese women all over Germany now have a "common home," Trieu hoping  that the Union will have effective coordination and cooperation activities with Vietnamese women's organizations in many other countries in Europe in the near future.

 Along with special musical performances, the event succeeded in raising  35,000 euros (37,035 USD) from more than 100 individuals and 30 associations across Germany.
