Essay contest on Australian land and people, Vietnam-Australia relations

The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam - Australia Friendship Association and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam jointly organized an essay contest on Australia’s land and people and the Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relationship.

The activity is in a series of practical events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties, and also an opportunity to review the achievements over the past 50 years.

An essay contest on Australia’s land and people and the Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relationship was launched.

At the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organization Tran Thi Phuong said that the contest was organized to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Australia. She hoped that the contest will receive   strong support from teachers and the enthusiastic participation from students through  their submissions.

Commenting on the outstanding development in 50 years of Australia-Vietnam relations, Mark Tattersall, Australia's Charge d'Affaires in Vietnam, shared that both countries are aiming to upgrade their relationship to Strategic Partnership in the near future.

Bui Uyen Nhi, a student from  Tran Phu - Hoan Kiem High School, said that in recent years, the school has participated in many diplomacy activities organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Australia Friendship Association. Through these activities, students have the opportunity to learn about the beautiful country of Australia, the friendly Australian people and their diverse natural environment.

The contest is open to  students from secondary and high schools in Hanoi, members of the Vietnam - Australia Friendship Associations and other bilateral friendship associations.

Contest submission period is from October 5th, 2023 to November 10th, 2023. Entries should must be written in Vietnamese or English. Each valid entry must fully answer the questions given provided by the Organizing Committee, including 2 parts: Part 1: answer 10 questions about Australia and  the Vietnam-Australia relationship;  Part 2: write an essay about Australia and the Vietnam-Australia relationship (up to 2,000 words). Entries with illustrations are encouraged.

The contest closing and award ceremony is expected to take place in early December 2023.
