The Hanoi People’s Committee designated two new city-level tourist areas: the special national heritage site of the Huong Son landscape complex (Huong Pagoda), and the Hong Van Tourist Area.

In the city’s latest decision, Hanoi mandates local authorities to manage and develop these tourist sites in accordance with tourism laws. Relevant departments are tasked with providing guidance and ensuring sustainable, effective development of these areas.

Hong Van, a suburban commune along the Red River in Thuong Tin District, features a rich cultural heritage with 16 historical sites, including one national-level site and two city-level sites.

Over the past two decades, Hong Van has worked to establish itself as an attractive tourist destination, generating significant economic benefits for the community.

The rural tourism experience in the commune attracts many visitors, averaging 35,000 tourists annually, with tourism revenue estimated at over VND10 billion (US$405,286).

In 2018, Hong Van's ornamental plant village was recognized as a city tourist spot. By the end of 2019, the commune achieved enhanced new rural standards.

Thanks to the collective efforts of the local government, Hong Van draws a large number of tourists with its cultural festivals and experiential tourism offerings.

The Huong Son Complex, established during King Le Thanh Ton’s reign (1442-1497), has preserved its historical and cultural significance through various renovations.

In 1962, the Ministry of Culture designated Huong Pagoda as a national heritage site, and on December 25, 2017, it was classified as a special national heritage site.

The annual Huong Pagoda Festival runs from the sixth day of lunar January to the last day of lunar March, making it the country's longest festival. Each year, over one million people visit Huong Pagoda to worship Buddha and enjoy the stunning landscape of mountains, caves, and pagodas.
