Hanoi aims for a 5-5.5% increase in its goods export value by 2025 compared to 2024, according to the city’s export promotion plan for the upcoming year.

The initiative seeks to encourage startups, particularly in innovative sectors, while restructuring economic industries to revitalize growth models and enhance productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness. The plan also focuses on developing a knowledge-based economy and applying high technology to boost labor productivity.

To achieve these goals, the Hanoi People’s Committee will implement five key strategies, including enhancing the competitiveness of businesses and manufacturers to adapt to new circumstances. The plan also emphasizes the establishment of supportive policies for production and exports, especially regarding monetary policy as directed by the government.

The city will continue to streamline administrative reforms, prioritize the use of information technology in administrative procedures, and strengthen investment attraction for infrastructure development and industrial parks.

Hanoi plans to create a database for business and export activities and enhance trade and investment promotion programs. This will involve closer coordination with central ministries, Vietnamese embassies, and local authorities to prevent overlap and resource waste.

The Municipal Department of Industry and Trade, Hanoi Customs Department, and Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Management Authority will conduct training programs and dialogue sessions for businesses on foreign market information, free trade agreements, and new legal policies related to investment and import-export activities.

The activities will also provide alerts on trade defense measures and protectionist policies from other countries and regions, according to the plan.

Businesses will have the opportunity to enhance their logistics capabilities and skills in import-export procedures, receiving support for challenges related to customs processes.

Hanoi's agencies will implement industrial development programs and support for key industrial products in 2025. They will assist businesses in producing essential industrial goods, conducting pilot production, and adopting modern machinery and technology.

The Hanoi Promotion Agency will provide businesses with information on market conditions, industry standards, import regulations, international commitments, and free trade agreements to boost competitiveness.

The agency will advise domestic companies on overcoming export barriers, prioritize large-scale agricultural initiatives, and continue promoting local investment.

The Hanoi People's Committee has directed departments and agencies to support businesses in boosting exports throughout the city.
