Vietnam leader meets Mongolian Prime Minister

The leaders agreed to continue strengthening political trust by maintaining high-level exchanges and contacts across various levels through flexible formats.

On the afternoon of September 30, during his state visit to Mongolia, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

In an atmosphere of friendship, warmth, and trust, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the development of Vietnam-Mongolia relations and were pleased that both sides had agreed to elevate their relationship to a "Comprehensive Partnership" during General Secretary and President To Lam's state visit to Mongolia.

The leaders agreed to continue strengthening political trust by maintaining high-level exchanges and contacts across various levels through flexible formats. They also committed to fostering substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation, thereby advancing economic, trade, and investment collaboration. The two sides emphasized the importance of the Vietnam-Mongolia Intergovernmental Committee in promoting practical and effective economic cooperation between the two nations. They pledged to actively organize and encourage businesses to participate in trade promotion activities and business connections in each country, aiming for steady growth in trade cooperation. Additionally, they agreed to promote people-to-people exchanges and collaboration in culture and education, as well as deepen cooperation in areas such as labor, science and technology, and information and communication.

General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene on his reappointment as Prime Minister of Mongolia. He conveyed greetings from Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and extended an invitation for the Mongolian Prime Minister to visit Vietnam. To Lam also praised the achievements of the Mongolian government and people, especially the successful implementation of the "New Recovery Policy" and the "2024-2028 Government Action Program," which have contributed to Mongolia’s development, ensuring prosperity and happiness for its people, and positioning the country as a leading nation in the region.

He reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of valuing its cooperative relationship with Mongolia and expressed a desire to further enhance the bilateral relationship, making it more substantive, effective, and long-lasting, in line with the interests, potential, and needs of both countries. He also highlighted the recent cooperation agreement between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Mongolian People's Party as a foundation for strengthening future party-to-party relations.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam, on behalf of the Vietnamese government and people, thanked the Mongolian government and people for their assistance of US$200,000 to help Northern Vietnam recover from the recent damage caused by Typhoon Yagi.

Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene extended his heartfelt thanks to the Vietnamese leadership for their special regard for Mongolia and its people. He welcomed the state visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, emphasizing the significance and importance of the visit in advancing bilateral relations. The Prime Minister also congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements and its growing role and influence in both the region and the world, affirming that strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam is a top priority in Mongolia's foreign policy.

Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene expressed a desire to further enhance and expand cooperation with Vietnam across various sectors, including politics, defense, security, economy, trade, education, science and technology, transportation, logistics, culture, sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. He also called for closer coordination between the two countries in multilateral forums and mechanisms, in line with their comprehensive partnership.
