General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation will embark on a State visit to the Republic of Cuba at the invitation of the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (PCC) and President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and his spouse.

This is the first visit by General Secretary and President To Lam to Cuba in his current capacity, and Cuba is one of the first nations he has chosen to visit as General Secretary and President.

The visit reaffirms the enduring solidarity, special friendship, and unique ties between Vietnam and Cuba as the two nations approach the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 – December 2, 2025).

These relations have been nurtured as a precious asset by the Parties, States, and peoples of both nations, while also reflecting Vietnam's high regard for Cuba and the significance of Cuba within Vietnam’s foreign policy.

Le Hoai Trung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Head of the Party's External Relations Commission, said that through this visit, Vietnam reaffirms its desire to continue inheriting and promoting the legacy of the precious relationship between the two countries, which is based on the solid foundation built by President Ho Chi Minh and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.

During the visit, General Secretary and President To Lam is expected to attend an official welcoming ceremony, hold talks and meetings with key Cuban leaders, and lay wreaths at the statues of President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban national hero José Martí.

He will also visit several economic facilities, including sites with Vietnamese investment and cooperative projects, and meet with friendship and youth unions from both nations.
