On September 24, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, Chairman of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, and Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, co-chaired the inaugural session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. Vice Chairman Hai represented Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

In an atmosphere of friendship and mutual trust, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering the special solidarity, friendship, and traditional cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba. They emphasized the critical role of parliamentary collaboration in reinforcing and enhancing the unique relationship between the two nations.

The parliamentary leaders reviewed reports from representatives of their respective national assemblies and the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee on the current state of bilateral cooperation. They discussed challenges, proposed solutions, and recommended policy and legal amendments aimed at overcoming obstacles and improving bilateral collaboration, particularly in the areas of economics, finance, trade, and investment.

Delegates exchanged views and shared experiences on policy and law development, seeking to promote bilateral cooperation in fields such as economics, finance, investment, energy, science, technology, and healthcare. These discussions were tailored to suit the specific conditions and circumstances of each country. Additionally, they assessed the outcomes of existing agreements and proposed measures to enhance the effective implementation of these bilateral accords.

Both sides agreed on the importance of expanding inter-parliamentary relations and committed to strengthening bilateral coordination both domestically and on international and regional stages. They also emphasized the need for regular supervision and effective implementation of signed cooperation agreements.

Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez and Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai highlighted the achievements in Vietnam-Cuba cooperation in recent years and praised the practical and effective outcomes of the inaugural session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

Vice Chairman Hai extended his gratitude to the Cuban National Assembly for its warm reception of the Vietnamese delegation and conveyed an invitation from Chairman Tran Thanh Man for Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez to lead a Cuban delegation to attend the second session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Vietnam.
