Vietnam prioritizes special friendship with Cuba: Party Chief

The upcoming visit of the Party Chief to Cuba is expected to further strengthen mutual trust, deepen the solidarity between the two nations, and usher the bilateral relations into a new phase of substantive and sustainable development.

Vietnam values the special solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, two countries, and peoples, stressed General Secretary and State President To Lam during a meeting with Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen on September 19.

At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam conveyed his gratitude to First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel for Cuba's willingness to send experts and doctors to assist Vietnam in overcoming the severe aftermath of Typhoon Yagi.

The Party Chief expressed his satisfaction with the positive developments between the two countries and reaffirmed that Vietnam consistently values the special solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, two countries, and peoples.

He also thanked President Miguel Diaz-Canel for the invitation to make a State visit to Cuba and expressed his hope that the visit would further strengthen mutual trust, deepen the solidarity between the two nations, enhance cooperation, and usher the Vietnam-Cuba relationship into a new phase of substantive and sustainable development.

Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen expressed his deep emotion at meeting General Secretary and President To Lam just before the historically symbolic visit between the two nations. He emphasized that the Party, State, and people of Cuba have been closely following and highly appreciating the achievements of Vietnam over nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation), under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary and President To Lam.

He praised Vietnam's lessons and experiences in socio-economic development, expanding foreign relations, and proactive international integration, which have not only strengthened the country's comprehensive power but also enhanced Vietnam's international prestige and standing. Ambassador Hernandez Guillen affirmed that Cuba's top leadership and people eagerly anticipate the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam, along with his spouse and the high-level Vietnamese delegation. He reiterated Cuba's commitment to further consolidating and strengthening the historic special relationship between the two Parties, States, and peoples. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the success of the visit will provide a strong impetus for the bilateral relationship in the future.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully requested the Ambassador to convey his revolutionary and brotherly greetings to First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, Revolutionary Leader Raul Castro Ruz, and other senior leaders of the Party and State of Cuba.
