During their meeting at the Kremlin on September 10, Chairman Tran Thanh Man discussed the outcomes of his visit and upcoming areas of cooperation between the two countries and their respective parliaments.

President Putin praised the significance and results of Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s visit, suggesting that the legislative bodies of both nations should continue to strengthen parliamentary cooperation to further promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a practical and effective manner.

President Putin also extended invitations to General Secretary and President To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to visit Russia at a suitable time.

According to a statement from the Kremlin, President Putin expressed his condolences for the severe damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. President Putin made a state visit to Vietnam in June and has visited the country six times—Vietnam being the only Southeast Asian nation he has visited so frequently. The two countries frequently exchange high-level delegations and hold regular phone discussions.

On September 10, Chairman Tran Thanh Man also met with leaders of some of Russia’s major political parties, including Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov and A Just Russia Party Chairman Sergey Mironov. Additionally, he held talks with senior executives from leading Russian corporations, such as Gazprom Vice Chairman Vitaly Markelov and Novatek Chairman Leonid Mikhelson, as well as representatives from the Vietnamese Business Association in Russia, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and the Russian Veterans' Association.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man paid an official visit to Russia from September 8-10, at the invitation of Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, and Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council.

This marked Chairman Tran Thanh Man's first foreign visit in his new role, as well as the first visit to Russia by a top leader of the Communist Party and the state of Vietnam in 2024.
