At the meeting with President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, PM Chinh highlighted the need to increase bilateral trade between Vietnam and the African nation.

Farm produce, fertilizers, machinery, textiles, and footwear are among Vietnam’s key exports, Chinh said, adding Mozambique's include coal, cashew nuts, and timber.

He also praised the African country for having assisted Movitel, a subsidiary of telecom group Viettel, in the local market.

Vietnam hopes that Mozambique will facilitate the business to expand its local operations and benefit the country’s socio-economic growth more, PM Chinh said.

Valuing the support for the Vietnamese community in Mozambique, he called for both sides to strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and support both business communities to improve their performances.

In his part, Mozambican President Filipe agreed on PM Chinh’s ideas and pledged to work closely with Vietnam to raise bilateral relations in all fields, particularly in sustainable agricultural and fishery projects.

He also praised Movitel's significant contributions to Mozambique's digital transformation, hailing the joint venture as a symbol of the successful economic partnership between the two nations.

During their talks, the two leaders discussed and agreed on further measures to promote bilateral cooperation, including enhanced delegation exchanging at all levels in order to strengthen political trust.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Chinh extended an invitation to Mozambican Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane to visit Vietnam. The two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, while bilateral trade between Vietnam and Mozambique has made strong progress, tripling to US$550 million in 2023 over a year.

They agreed to support each other in multilateral organizations like the UN, Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN, and the African Union. Amid global challenges, both sides committed to close cooperation on shared international interests. They emphasized ensuring safety, security, and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea, maintaining peace and legal order, and resolving disputes peacefully under international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

At the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh congratulated President Filipe on his successful talks with General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam, which he said contributed to strengthening political trust and advancing the traditional friendship between the two nations.
