It also aims to enhance understanding and foster positive cooperation between Japan and Vietnam. During the event, Ngo Trinh Ha, the Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, praised the establishment of the Vietnam Studies Center, noting that it marks a new phase in the association's development amid the flourishing relationship between Japan and Vietnam. He emphasized the growing demand for mutual understanding and cooperation across various fields, including politics, economics, culture, society, tourism, and sports.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Manh Dong, Deputy Chair of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, congratulated the Vietnam-Japan Economic Cooperation Promotion Association. Although it was newly established on August 15, it has quickly adapted and made efforts to organize activities to connect and build the first Vietnam Studies Center in Japan.
Preserving Vietnamese culture and the Vietnamese language is not only significant spiritually but also plays a vital role in the development and integration of the Vietnamese community in Kansai, serving as a cultural bridge between Vietnam and Japan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the Vietnamese community in the Kansai region will effectively utilize the model of the Vietnam Studies Center, enabling Vietnamese expatriates in other areas to learn from and replicate it, according to Nguyen Manh Dong.
On behalf of the staff and teachers at the Vietnam Studies Center, Le Thuong, Principal of Cay Tre Vietnamese Language School, affirmed that the establishment of the center would serve as a source of academic knowledge and a foundation for creative development about Vietnam across various fields, including economics, society, politics, history, and culture.
"This will be a repository of quality data and knowledge about Vietnam, serving both government and private sectors in Japan, aiming to promote Vietnam-Japan relations across many areas," said Ms. Thuong.
Attending the inauguration ceremony, Professor Shimizu Masaaki, Head of the Vietnamese Language Department at Osaka University, expressed hope that the center would enhance cooperative agreements between the Vietnamese Language Department and several Vietnamese universities, facilitating student, expert, and lecturer exchanges for learning, research, and temporary work.
