Nearly US$ 800,000 in donations from overseas Vietnamese for typhoon Yagi’s victims

As of September 20, total donations have exceeded VND 31 billion (approximately US$1.2 million), with over VND 21 billion already transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF).

On September 20, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Le Thi Thu Hang  donated  nearly VND 19.3 billion to the VFF on behalf of the overseas community.

This support comes from the Vietnamese diaspora in various countries, including Australia, Thailand, Japan, Laos, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Angola, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Mongolia, the United States, the Czech Republic, Nigeria, and Finland.

Notably, Vietnamese in Thailand contributed nearly VND 4.7 billion, while the Czech Republic donated VND 3.3 billion, and the community in the United States donated US$105,000.

According to Do Van Chien, Chairman of the VFF, the Party and State have mobilized tens of thousands of people to  help the victims of Typhoon Yagi   and have allocated  funds for recovery efforts in the affected areas.

“To date, the Front has received nearly VND 1,500 billion and allocated nearly VND 1,300 billion in aid to various disaster-stricken localities,” Chien confirmed.

Fundraising efforts by overseas Vietnamese communities are ongoing, driven by a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to aid fellow citizens and help stabilize the lives of those  in the path of the typhoon.
