Although Hanoi and Buenos Aires are geographically distant, their relationship is very close and friendly.
On the afternoon of October 15 Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan welcomed the newly appointed Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Marcos A. Bednarski.

During the reception, Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Council, expressed gratitude to Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski for his interest in promoting cooperation with Hanoi. He also shared details about the successful recent visit of the Hanoi delegation to Argentina.
Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan emphasized that although Hanoi and Buenos Aires are geographically distant, their relationship is very close and friendly. He described Argentina as a beautiful country with impressive culture, and historic neighborhoods, and said that Hanoi boasts a rich cultural heritage with nearly 6,000 historical and cultural sites, and nearly 1,000 traditional craft villages. He highlighted Hanoi's vibrant tourism industry and its deep connections with over 100 capitals worldwide.
He noted that during Vietnam's struggle for independence, the people of Argentina expressed their support for Vietnam through large protests against the war. The Argentine people hold great admiration for President Ho Chi Minh. Currently, Ho Chi Minh Park in Buenos Aires is well-maintained and highly valued by the locals. Following this tradition, Hanoi has organized many activities to promote investment and trade with Argentina. Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expressed a desire for both sides to strengthen cooperation in various fields, especially in culture, environment, and digital technology.
Thanking the warm welcome from Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski expressed his admiration for the recent visit and discussions held by the Hanoi delegation in Argentina, which revealed significant potential for collaboration.
Describing Hanoi as a vibrant city with open and sincere people, the ambassador shared his honor in participating in the 70th-anniversary celebrations of the capital's liberation, commending the impressive performances and the meticulous organization of the event. He regarded Vietnam as a courageous and resilient nation and noted that there are many economic development models in Vietnam that Argentina could learn from, emphasizing the complementary nature of trade relations between the two countries.
The ambassador announced that Argentina will soon inaugurate a leather factory in Ho Chi Minh City and mentioned a company producing vaccines for foot-and-mouth disease that plans to relocate its office to Vietnam, highlighting Vietnam's attractiveness as an investment partner for Argentine businesses.
He expressed a desire for Hanoi to provide a public space for a statue of General San Martín, the Argentine liberation leader, and to enhance cultural exchanges, including the traditional Argentine tango. The ambassador proposed organizing a public tango dance festival for the capital's residents. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of football in Argentina and expressed interest in collaborating to support Vietnam's football development and promote sports among Vietnamese youth for better health.
Ambassador Bednarski also highlighted that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, the feelings are very close, and he hopes for successful negotiations for a direct flight between the two nations to shorten the distance and enhance cooperation.
In congratulating Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski on his new role, Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expressed his hope that, during his term, the ambassador will work to strengthen substantive and effective relations between Hanoi and Argentina and have a successful tenure in Vietnam.
