Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son welcomed and congratulated Ambassador He Wei on his new assignment in Vietnam at a time when the relationship between the two Parties and countries is thriving.
On October 22, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, who also serves as Chairman of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son welcomed and congratulated Ambassador He Wei on his new assignment in Vietnam at a time when the relationship between the two Parties and countries is thriving, achieving many historic milestones. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Party and Government of Vietnam always prioritize strengthening and developing a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China. This is an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam’s independent, self-reliant, multilateral, and diversified foreign policy.
To maintain and further promote the positive development trend of relations between the two Parties and countries in the future, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son proposed that Ambassador He Wei and the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam work closely with relevant Chinese agencies to effectively implement high-level agreements and shared understanding. He emphasized the importance of continuing the tradition of regular exchanges and meetings between senior leaders of both Parties and countries, promoting more substantial cooperation across various fields to achieve tangible benefits for the people of both nations. He also called for strengthening people-to-people exchanges to consolidate the strong social foundation and create new momentum for the development of Vietnam-China relations, as well as maintaining close coordination and mutual support in multilateral mechanisms and forums. Additionally, both sides should effectively manage the land border and work together to maintain peace and stability at sea.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son also urged both sides to strictly adhere to high-level agreements, especially the "Agreement on Basic Principles Guiding the Settlement of Maritime Issues between Vietnam and China." He emphasized the need to appropriately handle fishing vessel and fisherman issues, respect each other's legitimate rights and interests, and resolve disputes peacefully in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS.
Ambassador He Wei expressed his honor to assume the role of Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam at a time when the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam is entering a new phase, aimed at building a Community of Shared Future with strategic significance. He conveyed the regards of Wang Yi, Politburo Member, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, and Chairman of the China-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee, to Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son.
Agreeing with Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son's views, Ambassador He Wei pledged to actively promote the concrete implementation of high-level agreements and shared understanding, contributing to the ongoing development of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future. He expressed gratitude for the support of the Vietnamese Government, ministries, and localities and hoped to continue receiving their assistance during his tenure.
