Vietnam promotes stronger ties with Indonesia

On October 19, 2024, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received an official state welcome at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, marked by a 19-gun salute and a ceremonial guard inspection.

From October 19 to 21, 2024, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony of Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto for the 2024-2029 term.

On October 19, 2024, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received an official state welcome at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, marked by a 19-gun salute and a ceremonial guard inspection.

On October 20, Vice President Xuan attended the inauguration of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Indonesian Parliament, with the participation of leaders and representatives from nearly 30 countries. In his inaugural speech, President Prabowo emphasized national unity and outlined key policy priorities for the next five years, focusing on food security, anti-corruption efforts, and support for vulnerable groups. On foreign policy, he reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to its traditional principles and continuity of many policies from the previous administration.

During discussions with Vice President Xuan, leaders from various countries expressed their high regard for Vietnam and a desire to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed a wish to deepen cooperation between China and Vietnam, fully implementing high-level agreements to enhance bilateral relations in a comprehensive and practical way. Leaders from Thailand, Singapore, and New Zealand also emphasized the importance of further strengthening their strategic partnerships with Vietnam.

On October 21, President Prabowo Subianto is expected to meet with Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the Vietnamese delegation. Earlier, on the evening of October 19, Vice President Xuan met with staff from the Vietnamese Embassy, ASEAN Secretariat, and representatives of the Vietnamese community and businesses in Indonesia.

Vice President Xuan commended the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Indonesia and their strong connection to their homeland. She emphasized the Party and State's national solidarity policy, affirming that overseas Vietnamese, including those in Indonesia, are an integral part of the nation's development. She also highlighted the crucial role of the younger generation of overseas Vietnamese in shaping the future of the country, particularly as Vietnam embarks on a new historical chapter of growth and progress.
