Hanoi, Vientiane strengthen cooperation in judicial activities

The relationship between Hanoi and Vientiane has continued to flourish and grow comprehensively in various sectors.

On the morning of October 3rd, Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, welcomed a delegation from the People's Procuracy of Vientiane, Laos, led by Chief Prosecutor Khamsouk Sengmixay.

During the meeting, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Nguyen Thi Tuyen, highlighted the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Laos, which has been nurtured over many years. She emphasized that the relationship between Hanoi and Vientiane has continued to flourish and grow comprehensively in various sectors. Based on the cooperation agreements signed between the two capitals, Hanoi's agencies have also established partnerships with many departments in Vientiane. This includes the collaboration between the Hanoi Party Committee and the Party Committee of Vientiane.

Tuyen provided an overview of the activities of the Hanoi People's Procuracy and commended its role and contributions to the city's development. She stressed that the Hanoi Procuracy has effectively carried out judicial oversight in local courts, playing a vital role in upholding the legal system, enforcing the law, and contributing to political stability and socio-economic development.

In response, Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuracy of Vientiane, Khamsouk Sengmixay, expressed his gratitude for the remarks. He mentioned that 2024 is a crucial year for Vientiane, as the city is working hard to implement Resolution No. 07 of the Vientiane Party Committee and preparing for the Party Congress at all levels. He also noted that Laos is preparing to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship.

Khamsouk Sengmixay acknowledged the challenges posed by the rise of new crime models, including high-tech and transnational crime, and emphasized the need for increased information exchange and experience sharing between the two procuracies. He praised the valuable insights gained from his visit to the Dong Anh District Procuracy.

The Chief Prosecutor also remarked that this visit was particularly meaningful, as it coincided with important celebrations in both Hanoi and Vietnam. He expressed his admiration for Hanoi's well-equipped People's Procuracy, which ensures the agency can effectively fulfill its duties, and voiced confidence in Hanoi's continued strong development in the future.
