The two localities expect to tighten their ties and boost socio-economic growth.

Hanoi values its strong and growing cooperation with Chinese localities, including Fujian Province, said Pham Qui Tien, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council, on September 18.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Fujian Provincial People's Congress, led by Vice Chairman Chen Dong, Tien emphasized the importance of more delegation exchanges to foster practical cooperation in the future.

He encouraged both sides to increase delegation visits at all levels and share experiences on socio-economic development. Tien also called for stronger people-to-people exchanges to solidify the foundation of bilateral ties.

Vice Chairman Tien pledged that Hanoi would support Chinese companies looking to invest in Vietnam, whether through new ventures or business expansion. He highlighted the city’s focus on digital transformation, green growth, and environmental protection.

Chen Dong expressed his desire to establish a partnership between Hanoi and Fujian. He agreed with Tien's suggestions and noted Fujian's strengths in areas like ecological conservation and environmental management.

Tien pointed out that Vietnam and China share many similarities in politics, development, and culture. He acknowledged the mutual support the two countries have provided each other in their respective national and socio-economic development.

He also noted that cooperation between localities in both countries continues to thrive, with a commitment to building a shared future between Vietnam and China.

Tien said Hanoi’s GRDP is estimated to surpass $54 billion in 2023, with over four million international tourists visiting, 8% of whom were Chinese.

He informed the delegation that the amended Capital Law, passed in June, grants Hanoi special policies, and that the city is working with ministries on socio-economic and urban development plans.
