London, one of the world's top four financial centers, is ready to provide insights, technology, and regulatory recommendations for Hanoi's urban development.

This commitment was announced during a meeting on September 18 between Hanoi's Deputy Mayor Ha Minh Hai and Michael Mainelli, Lord Mayor of London, who is paying a visit along with a delegation of British business leaders.

During their discussions, Deputy Mayor Hai highlighted three key documents recently approved: the Capital Law, the Capital Planning Scheme for 2021-2030 with a vision extending to 2050, and the updated General Planning for the capital aimed at 2045 with a 2065 vision.

He emphasized that these frameworks are vital for transforming Hanoi into a digital finance hub and fostering a circular economy, while prioritizing science, technology, and high-quality human resources.

Hai expressed his hope that London would share its expertise on regulatory frameworks and collaborate in training skilled professionals. He also mentioned plans to establish a major financial center in Dong Anh, positioning Hanoi as a global connectivity hub by 2045.

Lord Mayor Mainelli affirmed London’s readiness to support Hanoi’s ambition to become a modern, green city. He noted that both cities share the challenge of preserving historic buildings while adapting to climate change and enhancing sustainability.

Mainelli outlined London’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through measures such as thermal insulation and urban tree planting, alongside initiatives for digitizing data on historic structures for conservation purposes.

The Mayor reiterated London’s eagerness to collaborate with Hanoi across various sectors, including finance, urban rail, and education.
