The exhibition offers an innovative artistic journey on the history, present and future of Italian sport.

The Embassy of Italy in Hanoi has launched the exhibition Over the Limits: Sport Italia. Portrait of a Changing Country, conceptualized by the M9 Museum of Venice with support from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

This artistic journey explores the history, present, and future of Italian sport, highlighting both the achievements of Italian athletes and the transformation of Italy over the last century through the lens of sports.

The exhibition features 25 photographic panels.

Featuring over 25 photographic panels, the exhibition aims to showcase the most iconic places and athletes in Italian sport to the Vietnamese public.

Ambassador Marco della Seta of Italy to Vietnam emphasized that sport has historically served as a powerful bridge between nations, fostering dialogue and overcoming divisions. Both diplomacy and sport strive for the same goal: to promote understanding and cooperation between cultures. Vietnam itself exemplifies the transformative power of sport.

With the rapid growth of its sports industry, Vietnam has experienced a remarkable rise in international sporting achievements in recent years. From impressive performances at the SEA Games to gold medals at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, Vietnamese athletes have showcased their determination and excellence. Sport has become an integral part of Vietnamese society, with increasing participation in both recreational and competitive activities. Like Vietnam, Italy also views sport as central to its national identity.

According to Ambassador Marco Della Seta, his country’s sporting tradition spans centuries and today the Italian sports industry accounts for 1,3% of the national GDP and includes more than 750 companies, generating 12.2 billion euros (US$13.6 billion) in revenue and 9.2 billion euros (US$10.2 billion) in exports worldwide.

“Whether it is football, cycling or motorsport, Italian athletes have always made their mark on the international stage,” he said.

At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Italy once again shined, with memorable performances in many events and a total of 40 medals, including 12 gold medals. It is these values of pushing boundaries, striving for greatness and overcoming limitations that form the core message of the exhibition we are opening today.

The exhibition will run until October 8 at Casa Italia, 18 Le Phung Hieu Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
