Ambassador Choi expressed optimism about the continued support from the Hanoi city government for these initiatives, which aim to build on the robust ties between South Korea and Vietnam. He highlighted an upcoming delegation visit from Hanoi's People’s Committee to South Korea, which he is coordinating with local governments to facilitate.
Choi also referenced a recent call between Vietnam's General Secretary To Lam and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol as a promising indicator for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in infrastructure and cultural sectors. In light of Typhoon Yagi's impact, he conveyed sympathy for those affected and assured that the embassy stands ready to assist in recovery efforts.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh acknowledged the enduring relationship between Vietnam and South Korea, noting that Hanoi attracted approximately $120.9 million in foreign direct investment from South Korea in 2024, which includes 54 new projects. He commended the embassy's contributions and reiterated the city government’s commitment to supporting collaborative efforts with South Korea.
The meeting also addressed key topics, including support for the South Korean community in Hanoi, the facilitation of Korean teachers in Vietnam, and various South Korean projects in retail and infrastructure.
