Economic diplomacy continues to be a key pillar, contributing significantly to driving sustainable growth for the capital.

Cultural and people-to-people foreign affairs have been actively and diversely implemented, forming an essential bridge to showcase Hanoi's cultural charm and its people to international friends. Additionally, the city has effectively managed and mobilized non-governmental foreign aid, organized and managed international conferences and seminars, and attended to the affairs of overseas Vietnamese, Hoa said.

“Hanoi remains a bright spot in local foreign affairs, successfully mobilizing external resources, garnering support from friends and international partners, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the capital, and preserving and promoting the cultural values of the nation,” Hoa said.

Hoa added that based on a thorough understanding of and commitment to the directives of the 13th National Party Congress, the 17th Hanoi’s Party Congress, and other relevant policies, the Department of Foreign Affairs has identified six focal directions for the city's foreign affairs in 2024.

The department is determined to enhance intelligence, proactivity, innovation, and timely adaptation to the general international and national situations, he said.

With the motto "Pioneering, Connecting, Innovating, Comprehensive, Modern, and Professional," the Department of Foreign Affairs of Hanoi aims to continue mobilizing external resources to serve the development and enhance the position and prestige of the capital and the country, Hoa noted.

According to Vu, 2024 is an important year for the foreign affairs sector and the country as a whole.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support Hanoi with the highest spirit of assistance, providing constant guidance and advice to the city in implementing foreign affairs and international integration activities, creating new connections and cooperation opportunities with foreign localities, strengthening ties with the overseas Vietnamese community, and extending foreign affairs activities to district and provincial levels,” he said.

Providing directives at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen requested the Department of Foreign Affairs of Hanoi to strive to be a role model in foreign affairs for other localities. This should be demonstrated by enhancing the quality and effectiveness of innovative and diverse foreign affairs activities that are in line with the new circumstances, with a focus on practical efficiency and widespread impact.

Adhering deeply to the guidelines of the 13th National Party Congress, it is essential to continue considering economic diplomacy as a focal task, actively deploying cooperation activities with foreign partners, and ensuring the deepening involvement of various levels and sectors in foreign affairs activities, Quyen said.
