Speaking at the meeting, Hanoi’s leader expressed joy in welcoming the Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture.

He mentioned that over the years, Hanoi and Kanagawa have maintained a strong and cooperative relationship. Given the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the Kanagawa Festival held in Hanoi in 2023 holds special cultural significance, contributing to deepening the friendship between Hanoi and Kanagawa, as well as between the people of the two countries.

The Governor's visit, therefore, provides an opportunity for both regions to enhance cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections, while also serving as a platform for leaders to discuss specific cooperation plans for the future, said Thanh.

In this spirit, Thanh provided an overview of Hanoi's socio-economic development. He emphasized the city's focus on economic development, coupled with improving the quality of healthcare services and social welfare. Notably, Hanoi has implemented pilot projects for healthcare models catering to the elderly and introduced electronic health identification and records, enabling citizens to access modern healthcare technologies.

Acknowledging Kanagawa's strength in applying advanced technology in the healthcare system, Thanh requested support from Kanagawa's Government and Japanese businesses in advising, transferring technology, and sharing models in healthcare and social welfare. He also suggested exploring the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two regions in this field.

Agreeing with the Chairman's proposals, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji stated that Kanagawa Prefecture would continue to strengthen and expand cooperation with Hanoi, especially in healthcare. Regarding the Kanagawa Festival in Hanoi in 2023, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji disclosed that the opening ceremony is scheduled for November 18 in the pedestrian area of Hoan Kiem district, a symbolic location in Hanoi. The festival aims to allow Hanoi residents and visitors to experience and explore the unique cultural aspects of Japan through various cultural and artistic activities. Governor Kuroiwa Yuji hoped that the festival would leave a special impression on the people of Vietnam and Hanoi, becoming a prominent cultural event in the city in 2023.

In conclusion, the leaders of both regions agreed to further promote friendly cooperation between Hanoi and Kanagawa by enhancing high-level delegation exchanges and fostering connections between agencies, organizations, and businesses from both areas to explore investment and cooperation opportunities across various sectors.
