To contribute to the successful implementation of the 13th Party Congress resolution, there is a need to continue improving the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work to meet the requirements of the new period.

On December 7th, the Party cell of the Department of Foreign Affairs organized a specialized conference on Maritime Affairs, focusing on the topic of the East Sea Islands, as well as implementing Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW dated June 15, 2023, of the Politburo on continuing to enhance the quality and efficiency of external information work in the new situation.

Overview of the conference.

At the conference, Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell and Deputy Director of the Department Tran Nghia Hoa provided updates on the current situation in the East Sea - Islands, reported on the results of maritime affairs activities in the past period, and outlined the directions and tasks for the upcoming period.

Regarding the "For Vietnam's Seas and Islands" Fund in 2023, Hoa informed that as of May 4, 2023, 137 units had pledged support and registered to contribute to the fund with an amount exceeding VND36 billion (US$1.47 million).

To facilitate the timely transfer of financial support for the construction of projects and contribute to improving the material and spiritual lives of the military and people in the coastal and island areas of the homeland, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the city requested agencies, units, and organizations to continue to promote propaganda about the fundraising campaign, mobilize organizations, businesses, and people to actively support the "For Vietnam's Seas and Islands" Fund.

During the conference, Party members, officials, and employees of the Department were briefed on and emphasized the implementation of Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW dated June 15, 2023, of the Politburo. Over the past 10 years of implementing Conclusion No. 16-KL/TW dated February 14, 2012, of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party on the strategy for foreign information development from 2011 to 2020, significant results have been achieved in foreign information work, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position and reputation internationally.

However, there are still some limitations, including incomplete and lack of in-depth reflection of the country's outstanding achievements, decentralized task implementation, and insufficient coordination among agencies and organizations.

In the coming time, it is forecasted that the world and regional situations will continue to evolve rapidly, becoming complex and unpredictable. In addition to opportunities, Vietnam will face many difficulties and challenges. To contribute to the successful implementation of the 13th Party Congress resolution, there is a need to continue improving the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work to meet the requirements of the new period.

Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW aims to strengthen propaganda and promotion of Vietnam as a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developing country, a reliable friend, an active member with responsibilities in the international community, contributing to enhancing the country's position and reputation globally.

It also seeks to inspire a patriotic spirit, strengthen the unity of the entire nation, and nurture the desire for the prosperous development of the country. Additionally, it emphasizes the effective implementation of the Party and State's foreign policy, garnering international support for the cause of innovation, construction, and defense of the homeland, ensuring the highest national interests and the interests of the people, in line with the relations between Vietnam and other countries, the United Nations Charter, and international law.

Moreover, it calls for continued innovation in the content and methods of foreign information, focusing on introducing and spreading the history, traditions, and images of the country, its people, culture, and the achievements of the renewal process, as well as the good values and noble thoughts of the Vietnamese people. It urges a vigorous struggle against misinformation and negative information that harms the national interest and ensures that positive information remains predominant.

Also at the conference, Hoa presented the book "Building and Developing Comprehensive, Modern Diplomacy of Vietnam with the Distinctive Identity of Vietnamese Bamboo" to representatives of the Party cells within the Department, aiming to disseminate the value of this valuable book to the officials and Party members of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs.

The book, which holds significant value, is a systematic work that gathers speeches and articles by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong on the foreign affairs and diplomacy sector.

The conference played a part in raising awareness among the officials, Party members, civil servants, and employees of the Department regarding the strategically important position of Vietnam's seas and islands. It also instilled a deeper love for the Fatherland and ignited a sense of national pride and determination to fulfill the assigned tasks, making a practical contribution to the cause of innovation, construction, and defense of the homeland, in line with the victorious resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the development goals of the country.
